‘Badman’ video by KWAAI featuring Driemanskap and Kanyi

In December last year, a group of Swedish musicians came to South Africa to record an album project called KWAAI. The aim of the project was to bring together some of Sweden and South Africa’s finest rappers and producers to create a collaborative album and, later this year, a tour of Sweden. Naturally your boys Driemanskap got all up in the project and did what they do best – kill ish!

The first offering from the project is a track called, ‘Badman’. It features Syster Sol, Mofeta, Kristin Amparo, Cleo, Driemanskap and Kanyi. The beat is by Khosh, who also produced Izulu Lelam, Driemanskap’s first offering from their forthcoming album, Hlala Nam, which drops later this year.

The video was only released last Friday and already has over 15,000 views on Youtube! Check it out below…

Stay tuned for the forthcoming KWAAI album (June 7th) and peep the website: kwaai.nu

New: Izulu Lelam by Driemanskap | Video

October 28, 2012 Free MP3, Music, Video No Comments

On Friday, SABC1′s hit music show, Live Amp, hosted the exclusive world premiere of the first video from Driemanskap’s long-awaited second album, ‘Hlala Nam’.

‘Izulu Lelam’ is an epic track with production by Mo Fire Music producer, Khosh, featuring traditional South African choral vocals on the hook and vivid, heart-wrenching lyrics by Driemanskap.

‘Izulu Lelam’, which, translated from isiXhosa, means ‘heaven is mine’, is a song of hope dedicated to anyone going through tough times in life. The message of the song is that one day everyone will be free from the chains of hardship because heaven is a place that doesn’t discriminate between rich or poor, black or white.

The video was directed by Ari Kruger from Sketchbook Studios and features Vincent Ntunja as the wounded warrior. Check out the video, download the track and hit us up in the comments to let us know what you think…

‘Izulu Lelam’ is a song of hope dedicated to anyone going through tough times in life. The message of the song is that one day everyone will be free from the chains of hardship because heaven is a place that doesn’t discriminate between rich or poor, black or white.

The video was shot and directed by Ari Kruger from Sketchbook Studios. Ari shot Driemanskap’s previous video, ‘Ivamna (Love Potion)’. He has also just finished shooting the latest Jack Parow video and is an accomplished documentary maker.

Vincent Ntunja in Izulu Lelam Video

The Izulu Lelam video also features actor, model, basketball player and tv presenter, Vincent Ntunja, as a wounded warrior. The warrior is a metaphor for life’s struggle and the indomitable spirit inside everyone who keeps going in the face of adversity. Shot in black and white, the video is as epic and moving as the song itself.

Ewe Nje by Rattex featured in new Halls commercial

October 4, 2012 Media, Music, News, Video No Comments

This is one of the reasons we object to being called an ‘underground’ hip hop label. Sure, we put out music that doesn’t fit the standard pop radio format, but don’t get it twisted, we’re not trying to starve out here!

We recently placed Rattex’s street banger, ‘Ewe Nje’, in a Halls commercial. The track, produced by Hipe, is about how mainstream media has turned its back on real street music, preferring the image-conscious to the conscious. In the hook, Rattex proclaims that, ‘they can try, but they’ll never stop us – for real!’

‘Ewe Nje’ can be found on Rattex’s extended EP, ‘Streets, Raps & Us’. You can order the CD or download the music by visiting our online store.

Behind the scenes with Driemanskap at the Izulu Lelam video shoot

Warrior #izululelam

Driemanskap are about to unleash a new music video for the first single from their hotly anticipated new album, ‘Hlala Nam’. The track is called, ‘Izulu Lelam’, which, translated from isiXhosa, means ‘heaven is mine’. We joined up with Driemanskap, Ari Kruger and his team from Sketchbook Studios, and Vincent Ntunja (who plays a warrior – see above) to see what went down over the weekend of the video shoot.

‘Izulu Lelam’ is a song of hope dedicated to anyone going through tough times in life. The message of the song is that one day everyone will be free from the chains of hardship because heaven is a place that doesn’t discriminate between rich or poor, black or white.

The video shows a wounded warrior’s journey through the urban jungle. The warrior is a metaphor for life’s struggle and the indomitable spirit inside everyone who keeps going in the face of adversity. Driemanskap play a series of characters including a preacher (El Nino) and a street soldier (Redondo). As always, the people of Gugulethu and The Driemanskap Family all helped out with amazing additional character performances including a mother hearing tragic news and carjacking gangsters.

After having had a sneak preview, we can safely say that it’s an epic video that perfectly matches the tone of the track. The final video should be on your screens within a month.

Driemanskap ‘leaked’ Izulu Lelam a few weeks back and it has been downloaded more than 10,000 times on various file-sharing sites. Driemanskap have been steadily breaking through into the upper-echelons of the South African music industry after releasing a series of world class videos for tracks from their debut album, ‘Igqabhukil’Inyongo’. Their non-stop grind is finally paying off and there is no doubt that Driemanskap will be a major force after the release of ‘Hlala Nam’.
